Use ingredients you already have!

Hair spray can get kind of pricey, and why buy a new bottle when you can use the one you already have? Make your own hairspray with this easy recipe. You’ll need:

3 tblsp white sugar
1 1/2 cups water
essential oil
empty hairspray bottle

Rinse out your hair spray bottle. If the nozzle is clogged, prick the opening with a pin and pump some hot soapy water through it to dissolve hairspray residue. Pour water into a small saucepan on low heat. Stir in sugar until dissolved. Let cool. Add essential oil for scent, such as orange or lavender. Pour into your hairspray and shake well before use.

You can reuse your hairspray bottle for as long as the nozzle still pumps. If you get ten uses out of it, you’ll save about $40! And you’ll have kept 10 plastic bottles out of the environment.
