Because you deserve to be wowed.

You clean eco-friendly. You reduce, reuse, recycle and go as green as you can–all to take good care of Mother Earth. RV camping means its Her turn to take care of you. Scenic RV campgrounds are some of the best way to let Mother Earth pamper you with her spectacular beauty, but not every site is more just a parking lot with a bathhouse. I’ve compiled 50 of the most scenic RV campgrounds Mother Nature has to offer. Disclaimer: Although I surely would like to, I have not yet been to each one to personally guarantee them. So book at your own risk. But isn’t that all part of the adventure? Load up your RV with your own linens, your own food, all your toys and hit the open road in search of Mother Nature.

People camp for lots of reasons: to spend time with family, to get away from it all, for the community at campgrounds. But my favorite reason is scenery. Fresh air and unabashed beauty are like a Lover to the soul. Whether you fancy majestic mountains, a sunny beach, a serene lake, or staggering desert views, you can find it at these scenic RV campgrounds. I’ve divided them into four categories: mountain, coastal, lake/river, and desert, and every listing is hyperlinked (yeah, that was a lot of work, but you’re worth it!). Click, dream, and make your reservation right here.

Mountains

Mountain camping feels like an exciting trek to me. As the road takes me further away from the city, higher and higher up into the pines, my mood rises right up with the elevation. In this list you’ll find the most scenic mountain RV camping in Colorado, Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, New Hampshire, Indiana, Tennessee and Oregon–including one resort that’ll leave you higher than all the rest. River/Lake

Rivers and lakes immediately bring to mind both serenity and playtime: There’s a peaceful zen to watching the sun caress a lake’s glassy surface or listening to a babbling river’s lullaby. A more playful zen awaits those who enjoy water sports, like skiing, SCUBA, rafting, kayaking, or fishing. Not concentrated in any one geographical area, these scenic RV campgrounds feature rivers and lakes dotting the map from Washington to Florida. Many also feature mountain, beach, or desert beauty, so they offer a lot of scenic bang for the buck.

Bryce Canyon National Park and RV Campground in Utah is best visited in spring or fall, when cooler temperatures allow for lingering day hikes among the spectacular rock formations.

Desert

The desert gets a bad wrap for being hot, dry, and inhospitable. And while is IS, it’s also a showstopping feast for the eyes, featuring every color across the pallet. The desert is a sacred place for connoisseurs of impossible rock formations and gourmet sunsets and sunrises, but to really enjoy them, campers must be prepared for scorching as well as freezing temperatures. That’s part of what makes RV camping–with easy refuge from desert extremes at wee hours–so special. As you might guess, the best scenic RV campgrounds for desert beauty are in Arizona, Utah, and California.
